Another joke, GQ names Kaepernick “Citizen of the Year”. Trying to be relevant is tough for these dying magazines….

13 November 2017 Cool Shit

Colin Kaepernick Is GQ’s Citizen of the Year

Celebrating the man who became a movement. Though Colin Kaepernick continues his silent protest, he agreed to collaborate with GQ on a special project for our December Men of the Year issue in an effort to, as the piece explains, “reclaim the narrative of his protest.”

Should’t GQ stick to printing articles on arranging sock drawers?

    • SouthDade

Exactly! On top of that, who reads that crap anyways?

      • Charles___Darwin

        Idiots.

      • grandma954

People who cant figure out who or what they are…

  • TheAhmedClockCompany

    can’t boycot
    what i never have bought,
    nor ever will buy.

if i see one at the doctor’s office,
i promise not to read it,
i won’t even look at the pictures.

  • EarnitYourself

So to recap. This dead publication is calling him citizen of the year for an act that is essentially denouncing his citizenship? Got it.

I’m sure their 50 readers have the Jergens and paper towels ready for when the edition shows up in their mailbox.

    • Herbsman200

Are you all that stupid…. he is NOT protesting the FLAG.

      • grandma954

It don’t matter what he’s protesting and you know that. What he was sitting for or protesting about got lost because of the way he decided to protest Herb. No one is saying this man is wrong for protesting what he believes in BUT when you mix that in with our flag then it gets lost on the whole vet thing, well you see where Im going. It may be a protest about whatever, but when you do it the wrong way this is what you get.. Disrespect instead of respect.. The man was doing it for the wrong reasons ( a women) and there for he has lost everything… He needs to grow up , Own it and stop the stupid stuff.. He made it about the FLAG we didn’t….No one here is STUPID, well except GQ lol

        • Herbsman200

So G-Ma in that same fashion you should be mad at all the people that wear our flag that is supposed to be respected as a bandanna , or women that wear it as a bathing suit. That to me shows more disrespect than taking a knee. No where in our laws says you have to stand for the anthem…but it does say you shouldn’t wear the flag as decoration.

      • EarnitYourself

We get it. You don’t get it.
He was protesting the oppression of blacks, while making $9 million a year to play 16 games, maybe a few more if they made the playoffs. Where do I sign up to be that oppressed?

Here’s the part you stupid fucks don’t understand. The act itself, regardless of the cause, is disrespecting the flag, the anthem, our country and our veterans. Period. You can’t change that.

If you saw me pissing on your father’s grave, could I tell you “no, this is how I protest the use of fertilizers that pollute our waterways. This isn’t about your father” and it’s all good?

        • Herbsman200

So in that same note why are you not mad at folks disrespecting the flag everyday by wearing it as clothing? or a bandanna? You can’t hate on one and not the other… That grand wizard is the same thing. What about people that use the flag as a towel and put it on the floor? why is that not disrespectful?

          • EarnitYourself

Okay. Pucker up, hum a B sound through those lips while oscillating your index finger up and down on them.

It’s the thought that counts, Herbie.

The people “wearing” the flag have no idea that’s not appropriate. In fact, they are wearing it as a show of respect. Or so they believe in their hearts. That’s why it’s most common on patriotic holidays.

Let me ask you something Sargent shoulder chip….

How exactly does taking that knee do one single thing to help his cause? It doesn’t.

He knows he offends over half the country, but he insisted on doing it.

Why not find a better, more constructive way to have an impact. Maybe even a positive one?

          • Herbsman200

So tell me grand wizard I have asked this question many times…what way is the appropriate way to protest…. remember in the 60’s white folk protested the war by burning the flag how easy do you forget… or should they march like a lynch mob carrying torches?

          • grandma954

Anyway they want to except at a football game or basketball game where we pay good money to watch a game and forget about the shit for a couple hours. These people are making more money just to play a game then I will make working my ass off… His protest got lost in the way he did it and that’s just a fact. He pissed off more people then he got on his side. There were better ways to get his point across. But I guess he is learning that now that his money is no longer.. SMH … Just say’n there was a better way to do things, he didn’t think this through, thought he was untouchable. Now no one wants to touch him…

          • Herbsman200

Lets be honest G-Ma his protest got lost when Trump offended the owners.

          • EarnitYourself

I’m with you, Brucey. I miss the days of the 60s era protests. Back when they tested the protesters’ commitment to the cause.
            Billy clubs,
            Water cannons,
Being cuffed, stuffed and roughed up,
And who could forget… Kent State.
            “Four dead in O-Hi-O”

Now that you mention it… those folks might have been oppressed.

          • Herbsman200

Stay on task old man… we talking about the flag burning how was that any different?

          • EarnitYourself

Trust me. Flag burners back then did tend to get beat downs for it. People just didn’t carry video recorders with them during all waking hours.

Btw, are you trying to put words in my mouth again? You seem to be putting me in a position that it was okay in the 60s because they were white? Wrong again.
That’s your inner racist coming out, thinking I’ll approve of behavior based on the color of who was doing the burning.
You should seek help. You are way too obsessed with this race thing. The baiters have you… hook, line and sinker.

Here’s some legal history on the topic…

            http://thelawdictionary.org/article/is-flag-burning-illegal/

          • Herbsman200

There you go again big dummy I was just comparing the two protest showing which one was worse… I would say flag burning is way worse than just taking a damn knee. Don’t try and push your racist views on me Online grand wizard poobah.

          • EarnitYourself

“Big Dummy”? So now I’m Lamont, and you’re Fred?
When are you gonna finally have the big one and go join Elizabeth?

So you call me an old man, then argue “how was burning the flag in the 60s different when it was white people?”. You can edit that part out, but it was there when I replied. It’s kind of cheesey to edit your posts to remove items of controversy. Just own your militant racism, Malcolm.

          • Herbsman200

Stop lying my post never sad anything about white people… you added that in your response…so again my question is which is the most disrespectful to the flag?…Kneeling or burning… its a simple question GW Earnie.

          • EarnitYourself

If you sort “oldest first, look about 8 posts above, just below mine that starts “pucker up”

Here it is…. I just had the wrong post, but you did say it.

“So tell me grand wizard I have asked this question many times…what way is the appropriate way to protest…. remember in the 60’s white folk protested the war by burning the flag how easy do you forget… or should they march like a lynch mob carrying torches?”

So not only do you put words in my mouth.
You take them out of yours, denying saying those racist things.

          • Herbsman200

But Earn the protest onf the 60’s were from white people… did you forget..is Alzheimer setting in already?

          • EarnitYourself

What are you telling me? That the blacks weren’t uppity enough back then to protest the Vietnam war?
Heck, who do you think we were sending to the front lines? Right! The ones that didn’t really matter. The expendables.

          • Herbsman200

Good try at an insult but a big fail… check the death toll you all were killed more than we were…lol Good try though

          • EarnitYourself

I wasn’t trying to insult you, Herbie. I was checking to see if you bought into the common myth that that was true.

You buy into all the other myths that are made up to allow you to claim victimhood. I figured why not this one too, right?

But, you passed the test with flying colors.

          • Herbsman200

LOL see I’m not always an ass…but it’s fun to be one.

          • EarnitYourself

I’m a bigger asshole than you’ll ever be. Let’s get that straight right quick.

And yes. It is fun to just let loose with pure assholeism.

I would never try to challenge you on that racism stuff you have burnt into your soul, but I do often attempt to help you stay real when all four wheels come off.

            You’re welcome.

          • EarnitYourself

Oh, and don’t call me Earn. I prefer it when you call me Grand Lizard, as a tribute to my being so well endowed.
I think it’s a little mean that you do it in a Chinese accent, but that fits your racist, insensitive personality.

          • Herbsman200

I like being insensitive and “racist” it’s about time you get a taste of your own medicine.

          • grandma954

They burned flags back then, I remember well, we caused all kinds of shit, BUT nothing like whats going on today, we were all peace, love and rock and roll back then. Nothing like what you see today. Most of the kids back then were stoned out of their minds. The difference you see is everyone has a phone in their hands that takes pics. and video today, we didn’t have that back then. Oh the stores that would have hit the papers if would have.. LOL anyway that’s the difference. I know, I’m old enough to remember….

          • EarnitYourself

Oh, and why did you have to bring up the Zimmerman case at the end there?

  • Pompano Queen1

That afro is as passe as GQ is! Very well paired together.

    • grandma954

  • Herbsman200

NEWS FLASH…he was never protesting the flag…. you stupid people made it seem that way.

    • grandma954

No !!! HE made it look that way…

      • Herbsman200

No G-Ma he did the right thing…media tuned it into what we see now.

        • Charles___Darwin

He was grandstanding, now he’s playing the victim card. He gets….got….millions to play a game. He should have STFU and played.

          • Herbsman200

It’s not that easy Charles. Yes he has money but why stand while there are injustices that are still going on. SO in your eyes one should just STFU and allow this brutality to go on? There are cops out here planting drugs on people and that is OK to you? What about that guy that was killed after he told the officer he had a legal weapon in the car and still got killed? The gut that got killed and the officer tried to plant a taser and lied on the report? Who gets justice for those. So tell me what is the right way to protest? OOOH I know walk around like a lynch mob with torches right?

          • Charles___Darwin

One can look through the news and find injustices everyday. There are over 300,000,000 people in the US; something bad is going to happen to someone, somewhere.
Liberals always pick pie in the sky causes, like global warming, when so many tangible, productive things can be done to bring about positive changes.
Remember the riots, the crying, the protests after Trump got elected? A lot of good that did.
Kaepernick pulls his little publicity stunt and the thugs just kept shooting the next day.

          • Herbsman200

There you go with the canned chicago response. The protest are not for them. it’s for those that are truly being wronged. Remember if you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything. I truly believe that. So I ask in your eyes what would be your ideal way for them to protest?

          • grandma954

I give up Herb… Your just here to cuz trouble today and Ive had enough. I don’t believe that you think what this guy stands for or is pretending to stand for is real. This was all his girl friends idea . You know it , I know it, the rest of the world knows it…

          • Herbsman200

OOH man G-Ma I’m not causing trouble. It seems he cannot protest because he is rich. Where does it say Rich black guys can’t protest?

          • Charles___Darwin

I reread my comment….didn’t see Chicago mentioned.

By the way, when was last time you saw a bunch conservatives protest and riot? Republicans don’t break windows and wear masks.

          • Herbsman200

Just two months ago in NC.

          • Charles___Darwin

Far right. That’s one, as opposed to the weekly whining and crying of the left. Antifa is a bunch of Democrats.

          • Pompano Queen1

            WE do not cause violence!

          • Lt Bil Drat

Would you let your employees walk around wearing shirts that say “I support the border wall against illegal immigration” while in your business? It’s a valid injustice and it’s on your dime. Disagreeing with the cause is not a valid reason to say no.

          • Herbsman200

I am one that don’t sweat the small stuff… I believe in expression. I have an employee that wears the MAGA hat…hahahah but he has to take it off to go to his car because I can’t protect him while outside the shop. Remember My wife’s family is about 90% republican… (think of the heated arguements we have at sunday dinner) But the thing is we discuss our differences and move on. I have to get ready for Trump to come to WPB for Thanksgiving…OMG all the damn traffic.

          • EarnitYourself

Hey woe woe woe… hang on a minute.

They let her bring you over to their house?

Oh, let me guess. You have really dark tinit, they gave her a remote for the garage and they park outside on “have the guy that knocked up our daughter over days”?

Wouldn’t it be simpler if you just had the wife take the car and you take a van from work? I assume it has painting on it that makes it look like a work truck? That wouldn’t raise any eyebrows.

Man, I could do this all day. Lol.

          • Herbsman200

yeah but that same white family depends on me to help them out go figure.
HAHAHA I own them…. reverse slavery at it’s finest.

          • EarnitYourself

They don’t know nothin bout birthin no babies!

          • EarnitYourself

That’s kind of hypocritical of them to take your money if they express disapproval of you making it by getting kids hooked on crack.

          • Herbsman200

Well I guess when the lights are off FPL dont care where the money comes from right? Why should they

  • tardisbabe

Stephen colbert is bad hombre of the year, so whatever. Like the oscars no one will remember who won what in six months.

  • grandma954

NOW this has to be the stupidest thing I have read all morning. Really ? REALLY!!! . There’s so many people out there that did so much more for those that were hurting and this guy gets GQ’s cover for knelling during a football game, at our flag no less..Shame on you GQ shame ,shame, shame……

  • EarnitYourself

Ya, screw all those citizens who instinctively hooked their boats to their vehicles, drove to the Texas flooding and saved people of all colors and races on their own dime without being asked.

This douchebag is citizen of the year.

    • grandma954

The football player that raised millions for the same people in Texas, plus so many more I COULD THINK OF, But this guys name dose not come to mind when you think citizen of the year… This is so messed up…

  • Jarpo

It’s a shame the article doesn’t have a comment section.

    • Pompano Queen1
