One does need a life balance. I remember some college parties, but when the grades came it, it was party over.

Exactly, because we were taught to work hard to advance and do better. Whereas now a days it’s all about what they can get for free. Always with the approval of the arbiter of all blacks on here.
My daughter will be starting college soon, and she has worked her tail off to get where she is. She is proud of what she has done, and so are we. That is what should be important, not what can be gotten for free.

Hard work is frowned upon nowadays. Better to be a criminal and be flashy than to lower oneself to a 9 to 5 job.

      Yes!
let them party while your girls quietly excel to the top of the class. It’s always easier to let the competition eliminate itself.

“Wait, what??? I might have to work hard and make some sacrifice to get the trophy? That’s not how it’s worked so far in my life.”
    ~ The Average Millennial

If they think they are smart enough to skate and party and get good grades, just do it! Don’t take offense to being told otherwise.

College is the gym for the brain. It develops higher capability through working out the brain, and the difficulty of the curriculums shows who the real trophy earners are.
True engineering, advanced math, physics… those are benching 350.
Journalism, sociology, etc…. that’s tossing a 45 lb plate on each end of the bar. “Hey! But the bar is 10 pounds too!” Whatever.
