Women’s March London

21 January 2017 Editorial

The US election proved a catalyst for a grassroots movement of women to assert the positive values that the politics of fear denies.  On January 21 2017, the first day of Donald Trump’s Presidency, women-led marches, welcoming all participants, will take place across the world, with the largest expected in Washington D.C..  We, the organisers of the London march, call on people of all genders to march in London as part of an international day of action in solidarity.

We will march, wherever we march, for the protection of our fundamental rights and for the safeguarding of freedoms threatened by recent political events. We unite and stand together for the dignity and equality of all peoples, for the safety and health of our planet and for the strength of our vibrant and diverse communities.

We will come together in the spirit of democracy, honouring the champions of human rights who have gone before us. Please spread the word, so that our numbers are too great to ignore and the message to the world is clear.

Look at who is supporting:

Women’s March London

A simple Google search for Sharia practicing countries reveals:
These countries include Egypt, Mauritania, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, the Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and certain regions in Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates. Mixed systems are the most common in Muslim-majority countries
I believe with mixed practitioners it’s 33 overall. Review the list of groups supporting the London March. Not one for protecting women’s rights in Islamic Not one against genital mutilation practiced mostly in Islamic Africa.
Observation, if there are 1.2 billion muslims, about 50 % are practicing Sharia (it’s slightly higher but let’s make the math easy). and half are women (again slightly higher), approximately 300,000,000 women suffering from an unique oppression, is not represented.
    Simply put, nonsense.

PS: I communicate with people in Britain on women’s dress. While they snicker at Christian coverup, muslim women wearing burqa’s is cultural. Unbelievable.

    • Rijomi2

      Even better:
The English Collective of Prostitutes is a self-help organisation of sex workers, working both on the street and in premises, with a national network throughout the UK. We campaign for the decriminalisation of prostitution, for sex workers’ rights and safety, and for resources to enable people to get out of prostitution if they want to.

OK, I understand if they want to leave but isn’t prostitution exploitation of women’s body????

      • skydove

I think the collective wants to eliminate prostitution in its most lurid forms, while securing union-type rights and protections for sex workers who, for whatever reasons, choose that way to make a living. It seems likely that the great majority or career prostitutes are aware that their bodies are being exploited. This org. sounds like it’s doing what other groups who are mistreated should be doing: recognizing that the problem has been around a long time and won’t disappear soon, so meanwhile, try to make things less bad, and going all out to assist victims who want help.

Short-term goals (stop child sex slavery everywhere), medium-term goals (decriminalize consensual acts) and longer-term goals to be pursued in parallel with the others (promote workplace improvements and access to procedural safeguards available to others).

        • Rijomi2

So why promote exploitation? I understand the rest. Because they want to? I find it counter productive to incentivize. Incentivizing women to carry on? Long-term goal should be to return productively to society. There are other issues that go with prostitution, like drug abuse and alcoholism. That’s why many do it. Or abusive boyfriends/girlfriends. Yes there are lesbians like many strippers as well as many have been sexually abused like porn stars. It’s not a choice most of the time.As far decriminalization goes, only a careless street walker will get picked up. Most are through escort agencies or independents. In call or out call. The map and business model has changed, but it still is destructive to the woman.

          • skydove

The do-gooders who are trying to mitigate the effects of prostitution on sex workers and on society didn’t set out to promote exploitation. That fallout from their efforts includes some people tagging them for such promotion, intended or not, is trivial in comparison to what they do accomplish. Why would anyone think that women go to London to become prostitutes because the trade now affords more benefits? It may make a bad choice less hazardous to their health; but for those who’ve already chosen, some of the progress the collective has made may lessen their job dissatisfaction and reveal paths out of a life of addiction, abuse, and exploitation.

Careless streetwalkers, many of them active users, do get picked up. The bottom of the barrel? Maybe so. But the contractors for lawyered-up escort services and the high-end hookers with connections in industries that use their services aren’t the main population served by the self-help groups. Rich sex workers, however, can afford years of therapy and private help in overcoming addictions. A rapidly aging 30-yo druggie with a sadistic pimp doesn’t need to be told that she’s being exploited or that her behavior is self-destructive. A few organizations exist to help women and children like her.

          • Rijomi2

I did say streetwalkers are the ones most likely to get picked up.
Many places in Europe prostitution is legal so they won’t travel to London. Also, Brexit will limit travel. My point was enabling. Instead of doing that, concentrate on your last sentence. Especially since a few exist.

          • skydove

I know you did. I object to the suggestion that organizations that attempt to rescue, counsel, and, as an interim measure, try to better the working conditions for women in the sex trade, are counterproductive. The org. you mentioned is in the U.K., which unlike continental Europe, was heavily influenced by Puritanism. Therefore the need is greater there, not as great as in the countries governed by Sharia law; but they happen to be Brits.

Don’t mind my crankiness lately. The hate barrage from the New Yorker is more than exasperating. Yesterday’s, entitled “A Dark Inauguration for Our Authoritarian President” contained the following polished pieces of agitprop.

            Our Imperialist, Authoritarian, Isolationist President
            Our Impulsive, Authoritarian, Isolationist President
A Dark Image for Donald Trump, an Unpopular Populist
            What Artists Accomplish by Protesting
Trump’s Bizarre, Perfect Inaugural Concert (“looked like an amateur TV competition”)
Palestine in the Age of Trump
Claudia Rankine’s Home for Imaginary Racists [she’s an angry black poet]
            Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Presidential Retreat

& that’s just the titles. I, or someone, should read this stuff to see what’s in store. The authors aren’t about to get themselves hurt in physical confrontations with bikers or anyone else. But like it or not, they’re directing the Resistance. Ignoring them or blowing them off as merely sore losers seems shortsighted.

          • Rijomi2

Understand but remember my number one concern is rescue as the end goal. I was bothered by “if they want to”. My construct was it should require that as the end goal. Otherwise, it’s a enabler treating the symptom, not the root cause. So we may disagree on it’s mission on that one point. No worries about being cranky. Crank it up and “Hit me with your best shot”…,Pat Benatar.

          • skydove

OK, I’ll let this one go. I’ve heard the name Pat Benatar, but if you hadn’t given it context, I couldn’t have identified him or her further. The song I have cranked up goes, in pertinent part, “Trouble ahead/Trouble behind.”

    • skydove

Thanks, Zuckerberg. Rapid mobilization to order. Distractions for one and all.

  • Pompano Queen1

I’m all for women’s rights and equality… but don’t throw me into that pot luck stew with the liberal weirdo’s!

    • Rijomi2

That thought never crossed my mind. LMAO

      • skydove

She’s exactly right, though. We who are women are all black now — someone looks at us and says, not “thug” or other stereotype that in fact applies to many black people, but “weirdo” and other putdowns with basis in fact that in fact apply to some women.

        • Rijomi2

And you know that notion just crossed my mind.

          • Pompano Queen1

My comment wasn’t directed at you… it was directed at the protest of all weirdo’s gathering under the title of “women’s march”. I’m not going to be pulled into that group just because I stand for rights and equality for women. Madonna really showed her ass yesterday! The lib’s are desperate and disgusting.

          • Rijomi2

I know I was razzing you lol

          • Pompano Queen1

            okay!

          • Pompano Queen1

I have never gotten involved in politics before because I thought they were nothing but a bunch of clowns. I was a casual live and let live person (independent). You business is not my business. Boy , have I changed my mind and become Republican conservative. The left has lost their fucking minds and impacted my life in a negative manner now. They have pushed the envelope long enough, time to rein them back in and show them what life is all about. I’ll get off my soapbox now. lol

          • skydove

Knew you’d know. They played it the last time I heard them, in the 70s.

          • Rijomi2

Like I said, I have a great memory. Where did I leave my keys?

          • skydove

            In the fridge?

          • Rijomi2

            Possibly

          • In his left hand lol

          • Rijomi2

They were on my head once

    • These women should take a look at how females are treated in the Muslim world. They may then realize that they ARE treated as equal here in the US.

      • skydove

Excellent point and one that can’t be overemphasized. What are “these women” thinking of? They complain that dressing like whores (because it’s the fashion and it’s what they want to do) gets them treated like whores, or as if simply stupid, while women within Facebook range cover themselves to the fingertips in desert climates and still are mutilated, raped, and kept illiterate.

You go, girls — put on your pink hats and wave your signs. We’re all paying rapt attention.

      • Pompano Queen1

They are protesting out of “fear” of what might happen, not what is happening, how stupid. You are correct that they are treated equal here. Oh no… don’t say Muslim world… you’ll be labeled Deplorable!

    • grandma954

That’s just it, all of us want equality, and I think for the most part we do. All Ive really heard out of these women is trash talk, None of the rights they were bitching about have been taken away.. You have always been able to get birth control, Damn you can walk right in to broward health clinic and pick up a bag of condoms or a scrip for the pill.. Have been able to do that for years now.. So I don’t see the big deal, I guessing because they want it with no copay. Well I have asthma and my grandson has a bad reaction to bees and ants. These meds are needed more then your pills just to breath and stay ALIVE ,and I still have to pay a big deductible for them .. So see I don’t get what the fuss is..

  • Charles___Darwin

Did you see the Madonna “speech” on Breitbart?
No wonder her son wants to live with his dad.

    • Pompano Queen1

I only saw her “blow up the white house” comments on FOX. Will you post it here?

      • Charles___Darwin

Trust me, you don’t want to watch it. I could only stand a midnight of watching that gap toothed hag rant and rave in her faux English accent.

        • Pompano Queen1

          okay! lol

      • Rijomi2

I thought she said blow everyone at the WH. Not many she hasn’t

        • Pompano Queen1

          Ha ha ha

          • Rijomi2

My two favorite female celebs never dissed Trump. One just posted a “strong women, strong world” meme and never went to the march or referenced it. She is for empowerment, not entitlement. The other said, “if you preach love, you better practice it”. Ouch!

          • Pompano Queen1

Scott Baio is one of mine and I couldn’t believe he got harassed dropping his kids off at school. Love Tim Allen of Last Man Standing. Great sit com. I quit watching sit com’s when they became all ghettoized back 20 years or so ago.

          • grandma954

Love Tim Allen and last man standing, He don’t have one show that he doesn’t dish on the dems… Too funny

          • Pompano Queen1

I know and I love it! I noticed that 2 Broke Girls is starting to dish on the Dems also! I’m loving it!

        • The dog included.

          • Rijomi2

            She’ll give the dog rabies

        • Madonna stated she thought about “blowing up the WH”, which according to federal law is conspiracy. Many people are in jail for the same crime.

          • paul_vincent_zecchino

And the Secret Service is reportedly most interested in and taking a dim view of, her remarks re the white house.

          • grandma954

They should, and she should be in trouble for the things she said. When will she and people like her learn we don’t care what they have to say. She is so yesterday trying to stay in the now.. Its not working Madonna, time to retire…

          • Rijomi2

She is running backwards as fast as she can on that one.

    • MakeItYourself

So, the million ladies, none of whom can elaborate on the specific reasons for their protest, are rallying around the woman who made millions by objectifying herself for a living? Camel toes, breast cones and S&M outfits? Sure. Real talented.

I think the 30 million who marched into voting booths and voted for Trump had a better idea.

  • Pompano Queen1

OT… hey GUYS!!!! I’m blocked from posting on 7 again. Wendy must be back! They will never learn that the only thing they are doing is killing their own # of clicks and hurting their marketing $$$! Stupid unpaid interns at it again! Probably hispanic

    • How’d you get blocked?

    • Apparently I am blocked as well. All posts say “awaiting moderation”.

      • Pompano Queen1

Me too….. we will see in the morning if it is a glitch or what!

        • I don’t think so. I think it had something to do with the thread where the gay dude with the hyphenated last name threw a shit fit.

          • Pompano Queen1

What?? Which one? I tried to post on the drag racing article.

          • Rijomi2

Who starts a new avatar, targets Didnu real hard, Pompano, and you?I saw it right away and decided not to comment. Now I go back and he deleted all his comments which confirms it for me. You know who it is

          • Pompano Queen1

Some idiot under the name King King threatened to show up at my house last night. I LOL! He posted he had my location…. what a joke!

          • Rijomi2

And got you banned before who also posted under the hyphenated name

          • Charles___Darwin

            He went crying to Wendy

          • Rijomi2

Nope, got multiple avatars to flag you. Baited then disappeared.

          • Charles___Darwin

“Master” baited is more like it.

          • Rijomi2

The Cap and I just have to accelerate local news and more articles . It was in the works. We even contacted Bruce Weiner Seiner to have an “ask me” column since his son was banned

      • Charles___Darwin

Same here. WSVN is a rag anyway, they never update the news. The latest “Breaking news” was that Lincoln was shot at Ford’s Theater.

Their page hits will go down to zero without the comment section. “Bites with Belkys” will be their big story.

        • Wendy!!!! Lmao

Seriously, though, we should go down to the news station for a protest demonstration. “No justice, no peace. Give us our disquss access back at least!” “Not my commmment, not my commmment”

          • Pompano Queen1

            ha ha ha

  • paul_vincent_zecchino

Of course they’re marching. The mayor of Londonistan is a moothlim, and he hates Trump because he knows that Trump means business; when he said he’d wipe ISIS from the face of the earth, the rats know that Trump means it and will do it.

Nice to see all the criminal front groups publicly identify themselves and congeal, isn’t it?

Now we know who gets their bread buttered by SoreStinkos.

    • Rijomi2

Worldwide there were approximately 50 groups associated with him in the March

      • skydove

Things are rough all over. Our country isn’t the only one in which progressive interests have appropriated much of MSM and, from there, populated elected and appointed positions. Earlier concerns that the waters around them were growing were brushed aside, owing to the elites’ belief in their own moral as well as intellectual superiority.

Pre-November protests against the candidacy of a person none of them intended to vote for anyway served only to blind them to the unpopularity of the candidate they’d imposed on us. All the polls’ fault, of course. Now, to return to Dylan, they’re worried that soon they’ll be drenched to the bone. The joyously angry sisterhood we’ve observed recently hardly constitutes an “admission,” however, so we can expect to hear more..

  • Lt Bil Drat
    • Charles___Darwin

You banned on WSVN too? Some snowflake must have imploded again.

      • Lt Bil Drat

        I don’t think so.

      • Pompano Queen1

Yep! Glad we got our refugee channel! Dubbs upvoted me here! Look out, is he going to chime in here?

        • Charles___Darwin

Hey , why not . This channel has better news than WSVN

      • MakeItYourself

        Damn you Wendy!!!

        • Charles___Darwin

          I’m boycotting Frosties!

          • MakeItYourself

Interesting that the common thread among those of us silenced was that we voice conservative views and call out the lib slant on their articles.
Someone worked on Sunday to silence us? Hmmmm ……

          • Charles___Darwin

            Typical liberal pussy.
This week is going to be tough for the libs. Trump is hitting ground running.
Maybe Katy Perry will make an inspirational speech to get the left’s hopes up.
Or, she’ll do what she does best, show off her cans.

          • MakeItYourself

            Hoping for “B”.
