Homestead man accused of leading deputies on chase in stolen truck

KEY WEST, Fla. – A Homestead man was arrested after fleeing from deputies in a stolen pickup truck, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Oyantay Perez, 36, faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting a law enforcement officer without violence and fleeing and eluding police.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said a deputy spotted the truck Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 1. The truck had a license plate that belonged to a different vehicle, so the deputy attempted a traffic stop
